What We Mean by Harm
We recognise that harm may include, but is not limited to:
- Physical abuse
- Emotional or psychological abuse
- Sexual abuse
- Financial harm or exploitation
- Neglect or acts of omission
- Discriminatory abuse
- Institutional or organisational harm
How We Safeguard Adults
We ensure safeguarding by:
- Carrying out robust recruitment checks, including PVG membership
- Providing mandatory safeguarding training for all staff
- Promoting a culture of openness, respect, and whistleblowing
- Undertaking regular supervision and audits
- Encouraging service users and families to raise concerns without fear
Responding to Concerns
Any safeguarding concern is taken seriously and acted upon immediately. Staff are trained to:
- Recognise signs of harm or abuse
- Respond appropriately and sensitively
- Record concerns accurately
- Report concerns promptly to management
Where required, concerns will be shared with:
- Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership
- The Care Inspectorate
- Police Scotland or other relevant authorities
